Meals and Special Events

Dinners have been arranged for Monday 1, Tuesday 2, Thursday 4 and Friday 5 October.

Dinner will be provided at Newcastle City Hall (Banquet Room and Concert Hall depending on final numbers). There will be just one, two-hour, dinner session so you can arrange to meet-up with old friends at a time to suit. As you can see on the menus (see Menu Page herewith) there is a great choice of high quality courses available including one vegetarian choice each day.

A chill-out room with a bar located near the dining room will be available from 6pm to 8pm. Coffee will also be served here for those that have completed their dinner. This will be open to all registered Games participants even if they have not pre-ordered dinner (just make sure you have your Games Accreditation badge with you).

Dinner Package - A Dinner Package is available for the 4 nights at a cost of $100 per adult and $60 for children under 13. Children will have the same menu to choose from as adults.

Individual Dinners – For those who may want to book just one or two dinners rather than taking up the 4-night package, the cost will be $27.50 per dinner for Adults and $17 per child under 13.  Individual dinners can be booked on a day by day basis on the Meals Booking Form.

Lunch packs – These will only be available at full-day events and are compulsory for those participating in events marked with a *.

Please note that caterers cannot guarantee that they will be able to supply lunch to those who have not pre-booked, so make sure to bring your own pack lunch.

Note: Breakfast is not provided in the Games meal packages – however in most cases Group Breakfasts are available at the non-apartment hotels.

Gala Celebration

In Games tradition, the major social night out will be the Gala Celebration on October 6. Celebrate the end of a fantastic week at the Merewether Surfhouse at the southern edge of Newcastle. Enjoy a relaxed atmosphere, spectacular views and some great food at this fantastic venue located right on Merewether Beach. Memorable occasions begin with a fabulous setting and it doesn’t get much better than the Surfhouse!

All presentations will take place during the Closing Ceremony at Newcastle Civic Theatre. As parking is not available at or near the Surfhouse, Coaches will be provided for all those who have booked for the Celebration from the Civic Theatre to the venue and return to the Civic Theatre or any one of the Games Hotels.
