A memorable occasion for donor families: a chance to celebrate the heroes who saved life

By September 12, 2016Games Updates, Uncategorized

The Transplant Games celebrate recipients’ renewed health and the donors’ decision to donate.

To pay tribute to their loved ones, thank them for their donation decision, and welcome them to the Games, Transplant Australia invites donor families to the Donor Family Reception to the historic Tattersalls Club.

The free function aims to bring together families who went through the same situation: consenting to respect the donation decision of their loved one to save lives or making that decision on their behalf. It is a fitting way to pay homage to donors, and thank them for becoming the heroes of someone.

To make this occasion even more special, Transplant Australia chose one of Sydney’s oldest clubs – the historic Tattersalls, established in 1858 Club – to host the event. The prestigious club offers a unique social space in the heart of Sydney’s CBD with a stunning view across the Hyde Park to the spires of St Mary’s Cathedral, the Barracks and East Sydney.

I am a living donor -altruistic kidney donation 8 years ago.
I have flown in today via Brisbane (home Wagga Wagga) and am staying at Emu Plains with a long time friend.
I am hoping it will be possible for her to accompany me into the city on the train on Monday for the
parade and the donor family programme.
I am here alone as my husband is back in Wagga recuperating after some minor surgery.
No doubt you are extremely busy and I could find out tomorrow.
Looking forward to my first participation in the games. Sincerely Margaret Hamilton
